Georg Friedrich Sartorius von Waltershausen

Just as Wolfgang von Waltershausen was close friends with the most famous mathematician in the world, his parents (Georg and Caroline Sartorius von Waltershausen) were close friends of the most famous writer in the German-speaking world, Goethe. Besides the correspondence below, Goethe apparently visited Waltershausen. Georg was a writer, lecturer and professor of economics and history. He is best known in his role as translator and popularizer of Adam Smith’s Wealth of Nations.
