Aroldshausen

Aroldshausen is a Bibra Estate seemingly in the family for centuries (c. 1435). It seems to have been moved around between branches including Ludwig Ernst of Brennhausen (my great, great, great, great, great grandfather). In recent centuries it was sold from Bibra line to Irmelshausen line. It is in the old East Germany and was taken from the family. The structures were bulldozed in 1974. Rather than the property, the Irmelshausen branch appears to have received compensation when the wall came down and may have received some compensation from the Lastenausgleich (“Burden Equalization”) after the war. The forest was purchased by the Truchseß family which farms Brennhausen. The Truchseß family has apparently recently sold the forest.
