Wolf von Bibra from Brennhausen
Wolfgang von Bibra (1862-1922) from Brennhausen emigrated from Europe to the New York area in 1888 or 1889 after marrying a girl of lower social standing. He had to leave his elite cavalry regiment in Austria and went to America to start a new life. He supported his family using his hobby as an artist. He was my (Carl S. von Bibra) great grandfather.
Check out our Art by Wolf von Bibra. His most famous work, Roland at the Battle of Roncesvalles, is a recent event as far as being known outside his family through Wikipedia.
A fuller discussion and images of Wolf and his immediate family is incorporated into the Reunion of the Descendants of Wolf and Franziska von Bibra page and his wife at Penz von Dölitz .
